As promised here is my review and thoughts on essies matte polish. This may be a miracle product that could save you endless amounts of money. You'll never have to get your favourite nail varnish in normal and matte. With this one polish you'll be able to transform all your nail polishes to matte with just a stroke of a brush. I know I have definitely had this problem before and purchased both the matte and metallic polishes in the same colour. Sometimes you want the polish to appear shiny but there is them occasions that a matte polish is needed, it makes your nails look smarter and so much neater.
With the product itself being essie I thought that I would try it out on top of a essie polish. I chose a darker shade so that the effects would be more noticeable. You have to apply the product over a dried polish like the same as any other. Brushing up the nail ensuring full coverage. The polish doesn't take too long to dry as long as you don't apply a thick coat, you don't need that much anyway. The packaging claims that the polish works on any colour dark or light so I put it to the test. The product claims that for the perfect result you should apply both a base coat and then two coats of your chosen colour. This may be because essie polishes always come out quite thin. In many cases this is a positive. You will never go to paint a nail and have that clumpy application. However I find that if you apply too many coats of polish in a nail it seems to not last as long and chips more easy as there is more to catch. But with the matte polish being your top coat this wasn't the case for the essie polishes.
Coming in the same size bottle as any other nail varnish the product takes ages to use up. It is similar to any top or base coat you may purchase, applying like a clear coat then setting clear and taking away that top shine. So that you don't confuse the polish with a top/base coat for instance they have clearly stated on the front what the polish is for. Although if you did apply as a top coat all it would do it turn your nails to a nice matte colour.
However on the products box it does state that it is a salon exclusive and up to now I have been unable to find the product in any beauty stores and even the essie website. I was fortunate to pick up the polish at a beauty convention when lots of salon professions were attending. You may be able to pick up the product at a salon or spa that stock the range, if not im sure there is many other products you can try that do the same thing. Let me know how you get on and what matte polish you've been loving!
Will you be picking up a matte polish for your nails?
Lots of love,
Clo x
