As some of you may know in September I am hoping to go to University to study Spa management. So this weekend I went up to Buxton for the open day at Derby university. The course that I am hoping to study isn't taught at that many universities so I will have to move away whatever university I chose. With Derby being over two hundred miles from where I live and a four hour drive we had to leave at five in the morning. This was just so that we would get there at half nine when the open day started.
The day turned out to be jam packed with subject talks, finance talks, accommodation tours and facility tours. Although the course itself and the facilities I would be using was important I was more excited to see the accommodation. If I was to go to university then I would be living there so of course I wanted to see what it would be like. I would want a room with my own en suite, I hate the thought of having to share with someone that I have only just met.
The day started off with a welcome talk, this was introducing everyone to the university and giving you an insight into what the university is like and has to offer. Then of course a finance talk and finally a spa management talk. This was probably the most interesting talk. Hearing about the trips and opportunities that there is available.
There was also campus tours, with the university having a fully functioning spa, restaurant and the Devonshire dome available to hire for functions such as weddings I was quite excited. Of course I was more excited to see the spa which did not disappoint. The spa itself has: tranquil treatment rooms, aromatherapy room, hydrotherapy pool, hammam wet room, sauna, steam room, ice fountain, monsoon shower, reflexology foot baths and relaxation lounge. What more could you ask for?
The accommodation tours turned out to be quite interesting to being able to see where I would be living if I was to get into the university. All the rooms at the university have an en suite, thank god!
Also while we was at the open day we also popped to a village near by called Shuttlewood. we had to visit this with it being our second name. At only 30 miles away it just had to be visited. Ok it wasn't that big at all, there was only a few roads with one shop.
Are you planning on going to university or have you been already?
Lots of love,
Clo x
